Use less power from the electricity network by generating your own electricity. This can help bring down your electricity bills. The more of your own energy you use, the more money you save.
Solar and battery options
If you're thinking about installing a solar system or a home battery, we can help you safely connect to the network and get the most out of your system.

How your solar system connects to the network
When you install solar panels, your system generates electricity for your home to use. If you produce more than you need, the extra energy flows back into the grid. If you have a battery, you can store that extra power to use later. If you live near a community battery you can also store your solar in the community battery.
Always use a licensed installer when connecting solar or battery systems. It helps keep your system safe, meets Australian standards and ensures you’re eligible for rebates or feed-in tariffs.
Adding solar panels or battery storage can help lower your bills, reduce your impact on the environment and give you even more control over how you use energy at home.
Solar power is a source of clean and renewable energy. It helps reduce the amount of greenhouse gas your household produces. Choosing to install a solar system is one way to help support a cleaner energy future.
A battery lets you save extra solar energy to use at night or during a power outage. This means you can rely on your own power during peak times when demand is high or if the network happens to go down.
Solar and battery systems help you stay powered - even if there’s a supply issue in your area. You’ll also depend less on the traditional electricity supply and you’ll gain more control over your home’s energy use.
If you make more power than you use, your retailer may give you a credit on your bill. These feed-in credits can help reduce your home’s electricity costs. You can lower your electricity costs by participating in a community battery program
Know who is responsible for what tasks, as well as what to expect for each process in getting your system connected.
First, you need to hire a licensed and experienced installer. They’ll design your system and manage the connection process with Endeavour Energy. It’s a good idea to ask if they’ve worked with our network before.
Your installer submits the connection request through our online portal. Most simple systems are approved straight away if they meet all requirements.
Endeavour Energy checks the application and provides the next steps for your installer. More complex systems may take a little longer to review.
Once approved, your installer sets up the system and makes sure it meets all safety standards. You may need to be home if they need access to your meter or switchboard.
If your existing meter isn’t compatible with solar, Endeavour Energy will arrange for the meter to be upgraded or reprogrammed. In some cases, your electricity retailer may need to submit a separate request.
Once everything is set up, your system will power your home, and any extra electricity will be sent to the grid. Your retailer may give you credits for the energy you export.
If your solar system generates more electricity than your home uses, any extra energy it produces can be fed back into the grid. Your electricity retailer may give you a credit (called a feed-in tariff), depending on your plan, which means that your solar system could be saving you even more money.
- Your retailer (not Endeavour Energy) sets the tariff rate
- Credits show up on your electricity bill
- Some retailers cap how much energy you can export
- Export limits help keep the network stable and fair for everyone
- If you live near a community battery, you may also be able to access additional savings
Solar and battery systems need care, just like other parts of your home. Regular checks help to ensure they stay safe, efficient and compliant with network rules.
- Clean your solar panels regularly
- Replace old batteries or inverters (the device that converts solar power into electricity) when needed
- Let your installer and Endeavour Energy know if you plan to upgrade
- Ensure your system stays within export limits. Speak with your retailer or installer if you are unsure what your current limit is
Compare different retailers’ energy plans to make sure you get the best deal on feed-in tariffs.
