Check available network capacity before building. Our maps help you plan for electrical demand in new retail centres, business parks and multi-purpose buildings with shops, homes and services.
Our network capacity map
If you’re a developer, council or business looking at planning your next project, use our load capacity map to check available network capacity across our service area.

What does our network capacity map do?
It shows how much electricity our network delivers in different areas. This helps:
- Find suitable sites for new developments
- Plan for large scale solar and battery storage
- Support the building of new roads, shopping centres and transport hubs
Data is updated regularly based on recent network usage and planning forecasts.
Use our capacity data to assess where solar, batteries or other embedded systems can connect to the grid with minimal upgrades.
Plan for warehouses, factories and freight hubs, to ensure there’s enough power to support large equipment and operations.
Use our maps to support funding applications or plan new developments. See where the network may need upgrades to handle more power in the future.
Requesting a capacity study
If you're planning a large project (or a project in a limited capacity area) and you want to make a preliminary enquiry for a connection service or request technical information, then you will need to submit a request through our Connections Portal.
