What to do when your business needs power
If your site already has power, contact your electricity retailer to turn it on. If you're building at a new site or changing your supply, we’ll guide you through every step to connect your business site to the network.
Before you apply
To avoid delays, it’s helpful to have the following details ready. Some applications are simpler than others. An electrician can help you work out what’s needed.
Site address and property details
Provide the full address of the site where power is needed. For new developments, include the lot and deposited plan number - a land reference used to identify the boundaries of your block, provided by the local council.
Electrical load requirements
Tell us about your expected power use, including major equipment, load size and whether you need single or three-phase supply.
Single-line diagram and site plans
A single-line diagram shows your electrical layout and where the connection enters your site. Not all applications need one, but it’s required for more complex jobs.
Your chosen Accredited Service Provider (ASP3)
You’ll need a level 3 ASP to manage the design, inspections and technical approvals. If you have their details include them in your application.
Preferred connection timeframe
Let us know your ideal timeframe for connection. We’ll use this to help schedule and prioritise your project.
Engaging an ASP early can help speed up design and approvals.
Steps to get connected

Submit your request
Work with your ASP (if required, as you can make a request yourself through our Connections Portal) to submit a new connection or upgrade request, including the site address and property details as well as all plans and approvals.

We assess and respond
Simple requests are approved straight away. More complex jobs will need extra checks or design input.

Design and installation
If your project needs network changes, your ASP will provide a design. Once approved, installation can begin.

Construction and switching on
We’ll then complete the final work and timings to connect or upgrade your supply.
ASP1 and ASP2 are electricians, an ASP3, who does the designs, is an electrical engineer. In this case, you would be submitting a design through an ASP3.
